Help Celebrate 10 Years of TROLLEY DANCES"
Trolley Dances brings dance to the streets and people to the dance using San Diego's Red Trolleys as the vehicle--literally.
Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater (SDDT) is excited to team once again with the Metropolitan Transit System to celebrate
the 10th Anniversary of Trolley Dances on September 27th & 28th, and October 4th & 5th. Patrons ride the trolley to various locations
where dance performances are staged (not on the Trolley!) to delight and engage them. Several exciting events are helping to celebrate this milestone.
Trolley Dances 2007 Documentary to Premiere on KPBS-TV
A new documentary, produced by Mark Freeman and funded by the Centre City Development Corp.,
is more than a record of six original site-specific dance performances. The half hour production provides a view
into the audition process, rehearsals, on-site developments, and interviews with dancers, choreographers and audience members
as well as containing performance footage. The video shares the human perspective from many angles and explores
the unique challenges and offerings specific to Trolley Dances.
The documentary will premiere in San Diego on KPBS-TV on September 30 at 10 pm. www.markfreemanfilms.org
Jean Isaacs to participate in San Francisco Trolley Dances 5th Anniversary
While San Diego's Trolley Dances celebrates their 10 year anniversary,
choreographer Kim Epifano is celebrating her own milestone. Five years ago, she approached Jean Isaacs
about working to recreate the concept in Northern California. Now, five successful years later, she has invited
Jean to create a piece to be included in this year's production. Participating will be former Company dancers Elizabeth Lee Fong
and Erica Nordin as well as currently Company dancer Liv Isaacs-Nollet and recently featured soloist Lauren Slater.
SF Trolley Dances takes place October 18 & 19 beginning at the new Mission Bay branch of the SF Public Library,
960 4th Street (at Berry) and travels along the T-line. epiphanydance.org
Trolley Dances Featured in International Theater Journal
An eight-page feature, written by local dance journalist Kris Eitland, was published in the recent issue of Theatre Forum,
an internationally recognized magazine devoted to theater and performance. The focus is on performance works that reflect
contemporary sensibilities and articulate new concepts and forms. theatreforum.org
