Over two decades ago, high in the mountains of Michoacan, in the historic town of Tlalpujahua, dance artist Diego Pinon founded Butoh Ritual Mexicano/Body Ritual Movement (BRM) - a school of contemporary ritual dance that bridges east and west, ancient and modern forms.

Maria's work is recognized as a textural multitude combined with theatrical detail and has been presented in 14 countries on 5 continents. Maria strives to make dance accessible to a large audience. Educated at Balletakademien in Gothenburg (Sweden) and at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in NYC. She debuted as a dancer in 1987 and choreographer in 1989. She was a member of Jennifer Muller/THE WORKS, NY in 1991-98 until relocating to Europe.
