Born, raised and trained in San Diego, movement has been present for Angel since the age of ten. He was a member of the Ballet Folklórico Group Yollotl Mexicatl under the direction of Federico Guerrero and Ballet Folklórico Tlapalán directed by Lorena Topete. At the age of 15, he was able to perform at a student showcase in San Diego City College, there he watched and indulged in works by Terry Wilson, Debi Toth, Terri Shipman, Dr. Grace Jun, and other community artists. From that point and on he knew where to go. He made sure to attend and participate as much as he could in the San Diego Dance community. In these five years of fully submerging into dance, he’s been able to partake in summer intensives for SDDT and Malashock, performed in Blurred Borders, Lux Boreal’s “Cuerpos en Transito,” Fringe Festival, Live Arts Fest, Hot Guys Dancing and Trolley Dances. Angel was recently acknowledged as "Most Compelling Performer," in the Young Choreographers Showcase 2015 and was part of the winning duet by Ariana Siegel. As a member of the South Bay Community, Angel enjoys giving back to his community by tutoring and teaching dance in National City Middle and Sweetwater High School. He finds it important to teach youth perseverance and cultural enrichment in order to keep progressing and growing as a strong Latino community.
