Trained Tour Guides usher audiences throughout the Theatre Disctrict to see three new site-specific dances created by Jean Isaacs for or against walls. Twelve dancers, moving along an unyeilding concrete wall elicits both kinetic vulnerability and hard-edged stoicism from viewers.

Full Details:
"Dances with (or against) Walls" is a strategy that Jean Isaacs has employed recently to deal with the overwhelming number of choices presented by site-specific choreography. by dancing against walls Isaacs creates a two dimensional form out of an essentially three dimensional genre. The human body moving  against an unyielding concrete or stone wall challenges the viewers emotional responses by eliciting both vulnerability and stoicism. The three wall like surfaces selected for Dancing with Walls include the hallway for the Wagner Dance building, the wall north of Galbraith Hallo, and Stonehenge. Trained tour guides will usher audiences of up to 100 people at a time every 45 minutes to view these three dances.
Twelve professional dancers from San Diego dance Theater will perform these dances. Audiences for Dances with Walls, will be encouraged to video/photograph these performances on their smart phones and will be encourage to share on social media. San Diego Dance Theater will gather the images on our website and update periodically so that folks who are unable to attend the WOW festival can still participate in real-time and after the festival is over. All choreography is by San Diego Dance Theater's Artistic Director Jean Isaacs.
